Man Charged With Public Intoxication After Hitting Several Light Poles In Parking Lot
A Genson Road resident was arrested late Monday after he allegedly struck several light poles in a parking lot while under the influence of an intoxicant.
Lawrenceburg Police Department reports show that Lowell Keller Oaks, 44, of 100 Genson Road, was arrested on the public intoxication charge shortly after 9:00 p.m.
Officers were summoned to a parking lot at 2121 North Locust Avenue by witnesses. A female witness reported that the driver of a blue 2001 Toyota Camry had struck the poles near a fireworks tent, then narrowly avoided hitting her.
Both city and county law enforcement officials were issued an alert instructing them to be on the lookout for the vehicle. A deputy located it in a grassy area behind the nearby Saint Thomas medical building.
Officers report that the car had sustained major damage and had to be towed. Oaks told them that his windows had been fogged up, hindering his view and causing him to impact the poles.
Oaks was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on August 7, 2015.
