Maryland Fugitive From Justice Arrested Locally

An investigation into a case of public intoxication Monday led to a local man being arrested on charges that he is a fugitive from justice in the State of Maryland.

Lawrenceburg Police officers were initially dispatched to investigate an instance of public intoxication at an apartment complex on Oak Street. A resident reported noticing the man “hanging out in a breezeway” and knew that he did not live in the apartments. After a time, he contacted authorities.

When officers spoke with twenty-nine year old Justin Lee Moten of 518 Sixth Street, he admitted to them that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages and had taken some medication.

Moten was arrested on the public intoxication charge and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center. A warrants check revealed that Moten had an active warrant in Frederick, Maryland. Authorities there requested that Moten be held pending extradition. He was subsequently charged with being a fugitive from justice.
