Public's Help Solicited In Finding Inmate Who Walked Off Work Release Job Site

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help in finding an inmate that walked off a county work release job site today and stole an employee's vehicle.

The inmate, Jason Williams Kirk, 35, was part of the county work crew that assists at the county landfill. This morning he walked off from the job site and stole an employee's vehicle, managing to escape before authorities could respond.

The vehicle in question is a Black 1995 Chevy Silverado step side Z71 with a tool box in the bed. The truck has a 5th wheel hook as well as a Kenny Taylor sticker on tailgate. The license plate number is 412DFQ.
