Tuesday Crime Report
Lawrenceburg Now
Vehicle burglary
Police officers spoke with a West Point man on Sunday who reported that he had been shopping inside of Walmart on North Locust Avenue, and when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that it had been burglarized. He said that someone had stolen his bottle of prescription Lortab pills and a Zippo lighter with his initials engraved on it. He told officers that the vehicle had been left unlocked. Loss was said to be $60.
Theft
A local man spoke with police officers on Friday, reporting that someone had stolen his car hauler from a parking lot on Holtsford Street. He said the crime occurred sometime after 7:00 p.m. on June 16. The black, dovetail trailer was described as having a metal floor with a winch mounted on the front. There is a dent in the left fender and the jack is bent toward the rear of the trailer. Loss is estimated at $1,800.
Theft
Managers of a Lawrenceburg restaurant filed a complaint with Lawrenceburg Police officers during the weekend after discovering that an employee had stolen nearly $200 in cash.
The complaint was filed by a manager at Taco Bell, 1135 North Locust Avenue. She alleged that a nineteen year old employee had stolen $190 from the manager’s office on June 8th. Store officials were able to provide officers with a video of the crime.
When officers questioned the young woman, she informed them that she had taken the money “to buy her baby diapers.”
Managers indicated that the woman’s employment had been terminated. They said that they wanted to have the matter documented, but that corporate officials were uncertain whether they would pursue prosecution.
