Pedestrian struck by vehicle in parking lot
Lawrenceburg Now
A mother who was ushering her three children across a busy parking lot escaped injury last week when she was struck by a vehicle.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were summoned to McDonald’s on North Locust Avenue to investigate the hit and run incident. They spoke with the victim, a twenty-eight year old resident of Waynesboro, who reported that she had been crossing the parking lot with her three children when the driver of a gray or gold colored van backed out of a parking space, struck her, and then left. She told officers that, “She was pretty sure the only thing hurt was her pride.”
Officers spoke with witnesses and reviewed security video that showed the incident, as well as the driver when he had been inside of the restaurant. A McDonald’s employee was familiar with the man and officers were eventually able to identify him and obtain his address. They made contact with the twenty-one year old at his Morgan Road home. He told them that he had been unaware that he had struck anyone.
The man agreed to speak with officers at the police department. They note that he appeared remorseful when he learned what had happened, and immediately began to apologize.
Officers conferred with the District Attorney’s office and it was determined that, because there was no resulting property damage or personal injury, no charges will be filed in the case.
