Burglar climbs through window with resident inside
Lawrenceburg Now
A teenager requested help from law enforcement officials Wednesday night when a burglar climbed through a window of her home while she was inside.
The eighteen year old victim requested that officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department be dispatched to her Old Florence Road home at approximately 11:45 p.m. Answering the burglary-in-progress call, officers report that by the time they arrived, the burglars had already fled from the scene.
The teen told officers that she had been in the bathroom when she noticed a black male wearing a black bandana around his neck enter her home through a bedroom window. She told police officers that she heard a second man outside say, “No one is here.” She said that the man in the window replied, “There is someone here.” She said that the man then fled, exiting the house through the front door.
The teen said that after the man had left, she locked the front door and checked to ensure that all of the windows were locked, as well. She said that she was uncertain whether the window through which he entered had been locked prior to the crime. No damages were reported and the teen said that nothing had been stolen.
Officers spoke with a neighbor who had noticed a beige colored vehicle that had “left in a hurry with the lights cut off” just before the officers’ arrival. The neighbor said that several people had been inside the car. Officers checked the vicinity, but said that they were unable to locate a vehicle matching that description.
The case is under continued investigation currently through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
