Victim reports being assaulted with a potato peeler
Lawrenceburg Now
One person was arrested Monday after a Lawrenceburg Police officer was dispatched to investigate an assault involving a potato peeler.
When she arrived at the Second Street home, the officer reports that the forty-six year old female victim had sustained numerous cuts and scrapes on her arms.
The victim reported that she and her boyfriend had been engaged in an argument that escalated to a physical assault. She said that he had used a potato peeler to inflict her injuries. She told the officer that she had been able to take the peeler from him and threw it onto the kitchen counter. She was then able to get away and call for help.
The victim also reported that a neighbor had threatened her while wielding a beer bottle. She told the officer that he went home after she told him she was contacting police.
When officers spoke to the boyfriend, identified as forty-eight year old Thomas Boyd Carrington of 434 Second Street, he denied that he had assaulted the victim. He told the officer that the victim had been the one who grabbed the potato peeler. He said she told him “he was going to jail,” then began to scrape and cut her arm.
After investigating the matter the officer placed Carrington under arrest on charges of aggravated domestic assault. He was incarcerated at the Lawrence County Detention Center with an initial appearance in General Sessions Court scheduled for July 10, 2017.
