Authorities investigating several vehicle thefts
Lawrenceburg Now
Local law enforcement agencies have initiated investigations into the thefts of several vehicles recently.
On Sunday, a Hayes Road resident reported to Lawrenceburg Police officers that, while he attended church services, someone had broken into his home to get the keys to his 2003 Ford F150. The truck, which had been parked at the rear of the residence, was then stolen. The victim estimated his loss to be $5,000.
A Thomas Street resident reported to police officers that a relative had taken his 1997 Ford Ranger without his permission. The truck was recovered in a traffic stop that same day and returned to the owner.
Officers were called to a theft in progress at Performance Motors on Third Street. The owner reported seeing a couple drive past the business inside of his 2003 Honda Accord, valued at $8,000.
A Bluff Road resident reported the theft of a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. The owner told police officers that she had loaned the car to a former employee who had refused to return it. Police officers indicate that a variety of tools and an automobile battery had been stolen from the shop, as well. Total loss was approximately $3,455.
A resident of Oak Street spoke with police officers, indicating that she had left her 1997 Ford Contour with an acquaintance to have the oil pan replaced. She said she returned a few days later and was unable to get in touch with the man doing the repairs. She said that, since that time she has been unable to make contact with the man, and that she believed he had changed his phone number. Loss was around $1,000.
Each of the cases remains under investigation through the police department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information that would assist in any of the investigations is urged to contact the department at 931-762-2276.
