Assault Charges Placed In Saturday Domestic Dispute
Assault charges were issued against a Lawrenceburg man Saturday evening after he allegedly began wielding a knife while intoxicated.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that at around 8:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to 513 Fourth Street on a “domestic in progress” call.
Reports show that they arrived to find that resident William Ray Polk, age 46, was physically combative. They had to place him in handcuffs in a patrol car where, they said, he caused no further problems.
Polk’s forty-two year old sister told officers that while intoxicated, he became irate and began to waive the knife about. She said that when he laid it on the sofa she attempted to take it, but that he struck her twice in the back. This assault was witnessed by the responding officers.
Lawrence County Emergency Medical Service was dispatched to the scene. They rendered treatment to the sister, but transport to a hospital was not required.
Polk was taken to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was booked under a charge of domestic assault. He was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on July 13, 2015.
