Officers report interrupting “drug deal in progress”
Lawrenceburg Now
Law enforcement officers report that one arrest resulted from a call that turned out to be what they described as a “drug deal in progress” on Friday.
Officers responded to Pine Circle just after 12:00 p.m. Reports show that officers were speaking with several individuals at the scene about the disturbance, but that “their stories weren’t lining up.”
After a while, the reporting officer reports that, “Looking at the circumstances surrounding the call, I was certain that we had interrupted a drug deal.”
The officer reports speaking with twenty-six year old Lucas Carroll Kelley of 1014 Pine Circle regarding whether a drug transaction had, in fact, been taking place. Kelley reportedly told the officer that, “He had some pills but wasn’t trying to sell them.” He allegedly retrieved a blue plastic container from the bottom of a trash can adjacent to him and relinquished it to the officer.
Reports show that several peach colored round pills with the ID markers rubbed off were found inside the container. Kelley told officers that they were Valium tablets that he had obtained from a friend earlier in the day.
Kelley was arrested on a charge of possession of Schedule IV narcotics for the purpose of resale. He was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was incarcerated under a bond of $10,000. He will answer the charge in General Sessions Court on July 1, 2016.
