Resident reports being harassed while trying to sell car

An Ethridge resident sought assistance from law enforcement officials recently, seeking to put an end to harassment and threats directed at her because she was trying to sell her car.

The forty-year old victim filed a complaint with Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies, indicating that the harassment had begun after she listed her car for sale on Craig’s List. She said that she had received a phone call from a woman who asked her to meet at a bank in Waynesboro so that she could look at the vehicle.

The victim told deputies that she was unfamiliar with the bank to which the woman referred and declined to meet with her. She said that since that time, the woman has been harassing her and issuing threats toward her via telephone and Facebook. She said that she had even been harassed by the woman’s friend, who had threatened to “kill everyone over the vehicle.”

The deputy filed a report on the matter and advised the victim to obtain a criminal summons for telephone harassment.
