Main Street Lawrenceburg Is Seeking Public Input For A Possible Facade Improvement Project On The Square.

As part of a grant application process, Main Street Lawrenceburg will hold a public meeting regarding the possible uses for a $100,000 grant Monday, July 6th at 5 p.m. in the downstairs conference room inside the new Municipal Complex at 25 Public Square. Main Street Director April Judkins said approximately five $100,000 grants will be awarded from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development for commercial facade improvements.

Preliminary ideas for the funds include new paint, windows, doors, and shutters. The meeting is being held to discuss other ideas and opportunity for the use of the funding.

This grant is specific for the Main Street Lawrenceburg district but the meeting is open to all.

Main Street Lawrenceburg is one of the 24 Certified Main Street Communities. Certification shows that there is demonstrated community support for the program, it has a comprehensive work plan, sufficient operating budget and adequate staff and volunteer support. The Main Street approach, consisting of preservation and promotion efforts, has revitalized downtown areas across the nation.

In 2014 Main Street Lawrenceburg received a $25,000 grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development for commercial facade improvements to help in obtaining 17 new awning's around the downtown area. The recent purchase of several buildings downtown and the continuing process of preservation and revitalization makes downtown Lawrenceburg the place any great business would love to be.

Main Street Lawrenceburg gets a large share of it's support from memberships, available for individuals ($25), families ($50), and businesses ($100, $250 and $500 levels).
