Man garners kidnapping, drug charges in Saturday night incident

From Loretto Police Department

On Saturday, June 16th the Lawrence County E911 received a call from a female who stated she had been kidnapped and believed she was on Busby Road. Even though the female was rightfully upset and screaming during the call our dispatchers were able to get a vehicle description and that the suspect was armed.

Our officers encountered the vehicle on Busby Road just east of Main Street where they made a high risk traffic stop. They safely removed both the suspect and the victim from the vehicle.

After interviewing the victim it was determined she had been held against her will and assaulted. Also a search of the vehicle turned up 2 grams of meth, a pipe, and 81 Xanax pills. The offender, Jimmy Nix Jr., was arrested and charged with Aggravated Kidnapping, Domestic Assault, Poss. of Sch. II for resale, Poss. Of Sch. IV for resale, and Drug Paraphernalia.

He was also charged with being in possession of a .380 handgun while committing a felony and driving on a suspended license. He was transported to the Lawrence County Jail where he is being held.

We would like to thank the Lawrence County Sheriffs Department, St. Joseph Police Department, and our E911 for assisting during this incident. We answered several calls with them during the night and this is a good illustration of how team work keeps our residents safe!
