Thursday vehicle collision on Pulaski Highway
Press release/ New Prospect Fire Dept
Just after 4 p.m. on Thursday June 16, 2016 the New Prospect Fire Department, Lawrence County EMS, and law enforcement officers were dispatched to the 4600 Block of Pulaski Highway for a reported head on traffic collision that involved three vehicles.
Our first arriving units found two vehicles to be heavily involved with fire. Mutual Aid response to the scene from Leoma and Lawrenceburg Fire Departments was requested.
It was determined that the occupants of the vehicles that were on fire had been pulled and carried to safety by bystanders on the scene immediately after the crash occurred, prior to fire department arrival.
“On behalf of New Prospect Fire Department, I would like to thank the bystanders for their heroic efforts displayed on this scene prior to the arrival of first responders. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this crash as they work through the recovery process,” stated NPFD Chief Tyler McDow.
As a result of injuries sustained in the incident, two patients were treated on scene by Lawrence County EMS before being air lifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by the Air Evac Lifeteam.
The crash remains under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
