Firefighters Battle Blaze At Commercial Structure Monday

Firefighters worked Monday afternoon to contain a blaze that erupted inside a commercial building in Lawrenceburg’s industrial park area.

Units with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department (LFD) responded to Precision Laser and Manufacturing located at 80 Motivation Drive shortly after 3:00 p.m. They were assisted by units with the New Prospect and Ethridge Fire Departments, air units from Crawfish Valley and Henryville Fire Departments, Lawrence County Emergency Medical Service, and Lawrenceburg Utility Systems.

A press release issued through LFD Tuesday morning indicates that workers were last inside the structure at 1:45 p.m. At that time, they said everything appeared to be all right. An employee working in shipping noticed the smoke at 3:03 p.m. and placed a 911 call for assistance.

When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke billowing from the 6,000 square foot structure. They were able to bring the blaze under control by 4:15 p.m.

The cause of the fire currently remains under investigation.
