Tuesday Crime Report
Theft
Police officers were summoned to a Belmont Street home Thursday where the resident reported that several items had been stolen. The fifty-eight year old victim reported belongings valued at $800 missing, including a solar powered battery charger, drill, staple gun, and paint sprayer. He told officers that he suspected that the items had been taken by an individual he had allowed to stay there for a few nights.
Vehicle burglary
The burglary of a 2001 Saturn SL-1 was reported by a Gimlet Road resident on Thursday. The victim reported that she had locked the doors on her car, but that one of the windows was damaged and would not roll up all the way. She told officers that she had left her medications in the passenger floorboard where she had believed they would be out of sight. The items were reportedly stolen while her car was parked in front of a North Locust Avenue business.
Theft
Officers responded to an Old Florence Road home Friday where the resident reported that a package that had been delivered to her home had been stolen before she could retrieve it. The postal carrier verified that the package had been delivered. The package, which contained a purse and pajamas, was valued at $125.
Shoplifting
The manager of Dollar General Store on West Gaines Street reported to police officers Friday that she had discovered an instance of shoplifting while reviewing security video. She said that the video revealed a woman concealing several items inside her purse, then bypassing the checkout counter and leaving the store. Loss was said to be $31.50.
Theft
A loss of $800 was reported by an Old Florence Road resident last week. The victim, age 35, told police officers that she believed her leather jacket, first edition Nintendo 64 and games, and Sony Blu-ray player had been stolen by her ex-boyfriend a few weeks prior. She said that she had noticed the theft while preparing to move.
