Authorities investigate recent burglaries
Lawrenceburg Now
Investigators are continuing to look into burglaries reported through the Lawrenceburg Police Department during the last week.
In one incident a resident of Buffalo Road reported that items had been stolen from him during a move. He told officers Friday that he had moved many of his belongings to his new home the previous day, then left at around 6:30 p.m. When he returned the next day, he found that the front door, though still locked, was standing open. A check of his belongings revealed that several items had been stolen, including a 42” LG plasma television and a box of DVDs and electronic games. Altogether, he said the items were worth $700.
The victim told officers that mail that had been forwarded to the address from his previous home had been delivered by the mail carrier, but that he found them lying on the floor along with a pair of glasses that did not belong to him. In addition, he said items had been removed from drawers and strewn about.
A resident of May Street reported a similar experience on Sunday involving his vehicle. He told officers that he had secured all of the locks on his 1988 Chevrolet Blazer, but had returned to find the front passenger door had been unlocked. He told officers that his girlfriend had left the apartment shortly before 5:30 a.m. and he believed that she may have scared away the burglar.
The victim said that he found several items belonging to him that had been removed from his vehicle and scattered on the ground, including various paper documents and his car title. In addition, he said that several items of mail and an unopened package of pillow cases were found lying near his property, however the items did not belong to him. He speculated that the person responsible had dropped the items when his girlfriend came outside, and fled the scene.
The only items identified to be missing were two cowboy hats that the victim said had a value of $100.
Anyone who has information regarding either of these crimes is encouraged to contact the police department at 931-762-2276.
