Resident confronts acquaintance caught burglarizing his home
Lawrenceburg Now
A Summertown man filed a complaint with law enforcement officers after he caught an acquaintance burglarizing his home.
The victim reported to Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies that he had been leaving his Drakes Lane home to take his child to school when the acquaintance pulled up on a motorcycle. He said that the acquaintance had performed work for him in the past to earn money and was inquiring about work.
He said that he did not want the man on his property so he explained to him that he had to leave. The victim said he left to take his child to school, but that the acquaintance stayed behind.
Once the victim arrived home, he said he heard sounds coming from his bedroom, looked in through the window. He said the man was inside, rummaging through a jewelry box and taking things.
The victim confronted the acquaintance and had him empty his pockets, then retrieved his belongings. He told the victim that "he only did it because he needed money."
Some time later, the victim said he noticed that a digital recorder, valued at $40, was missing. He suspects that it was taken during the incident.
