Man wandering through yards garners drug charge
Lawrenceburg Now
A man who was spotted by a police officer wandering through yards in the Smith Avenue, Lawrenceburg area last weekend, was arrested after he was found to be carrying drugs.
Jacob Daniel Dyer, age 19, of 309 First Avenue was booked through the Lawrence County Detention Center Saturday under a charge of possession of marijuana with the intent to resale.
An officer with the Lawrenceburg Police Department reports that while on patrol, he noticed Dyer walking through several residents’ yards at around 4:30 a.m. When he confronted him, Dyer allegedly told the officer that he was “just wandering around.”
For officer safety the officer informed Dyer that he would be conducting a pat down. Before he began, however, he said Dyer emptied his pockets, placing the contents on the hood of the police car. The officer reports finding one clear bag that said “for sale.” The larger bag contained three small clear bags of marijuana.
Since there were outstanding warrants against Dyer, he was also booked at the Lawrence County Detention Center on a charge of violation of probation. Bond was set at $5,000.
Dyer is scheduled to answer the charges through General Sessions Court on July 1, 2016.
