Air Evac Lifeteam Works To Increase Number Of Medically Trained Personnel In Lawrence County
Lawrenceburg Air Evac Lifeteam personnel, led by Program Director Jon Guthrie, recently wrapped up the second intense 10-week Emergency Medical Responders class for members of five area fire departments. Participants included firefighters from New Prospect, Leoma, Southeast Lawrence, Crossroads and Gandy Volunteer Fire Departments.
Guthrie said the 2015 EMR class successfully passed the course. In order to become certified as an EMR with the state of Tennessee, the class participants must now sit for the National Registry Exam.
“We completed finals and gave them a realistic mock crash with patients – it was as realistic as it gets,” he said. “I am proud of the men and women for their commitment and volunteer spirit. They have all done a great job and will make a huge difference in patient outcomes.”
Lawrence County EMS Director Larry Glass said he is committed to making the EMR program a success.
“These dedicated volunteers will now be able to offer better patient care to citizens of Lawrence County and visitors,” he said.
Gandy Fire Chief Ron Burnett said it was an honor to host the program.
“I’m so proud of each of the participants,” Burnett said. “They will truly make a difference.”
