Wednesday Crime Report
Shoplifting
Police officers responded to Cellular World on North Locust Avenue where the manager reported that a man had come into the store on two separate occasions and stolen items. During the first incident, video surveillance showed the man taking a Bluetooth headset and vent clip, then leave without paying for them. During the second incident, the man reportedly stole a USB hub valued at $50.
Theft
A Third Street resident reported to officers that someone had stolen the license plate off of her 1996 Dodge Ram while she slept. Loss was $50.24.
Shoplifting
Officials at Walmart reported to police officers that a review of video surveillance showed that a man had entered the store on May 27 and took a wireless speaker before exiting without paying for the item. It had a value of $77.
Theft
A cell phone was inadvertently left inside of a dressing room at Rotary Park swimming pool last week. When the owner realized her error, she said she returned for it, but that it was no longer there. It was reported as a $100 loss.
Shoplifting
Loss Prevention officers at Walmart were able to provide police officers with the identity of a suspect, believed to have stolen a pair of women’s shoes recently. They said that the woman had tried on the shoes, left her old ones behind, then exited through the checkout where she purchased a pack of cigarettes. Loss was said to be $11.88.
Auto burglary
A power acoustic amplifier valued at $110 was reported stolen out of a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer last week while the owner slept at his Perry Street residence.
Vandalism
The rear driver’s side window was broken out of a 2008 Ford Taurus parked outside of a Simpson Street home last weekend. The owner, age 75, told officers that the incident had occurred overnight and he had not heard any suspicious sounds. Damages were assessed to be $400.
Theft
A man who had been staying at Traveler’s Motel on North Locust Avenue reported a loss of $280 last weekend. He told police officers that he had left his belongings there for a short time. When he returned he discovered that his backpack, clothes, cell phone, wallet, and various tools were missing.
Theft
Officers made their way to a College Avenue home in the early hours Sunday where the resident reported that someone had stolen the registration sticker off of her 1997 Toyota Four Runner. She said the crime had occurred while she slept. Loss was $49.
Vandalism
A resident of Lafayette Avenue told police officers Monday that her mailbox had been knocked off of the post and destroyed, resulting in an approximate $40 loss.
Aggravated burglary
A Buffalo Road resident suffered a $400 loss last week when her Toshiba laptop was stolen while she was in the process of moving. The victim, age 64, told officers that it had been stolen while she was away from the residence. Entry was said to have been made by removing a window air conditioner unit.
Theft
Officers took a complaint from a Roberts Avenue woman Tuesday who reported that someone had stolen her grandson’s silver and red, 18”, Kent Abyss bicycle from her yard. The bike, valued at $90, was stolen sometime during the previous night.
Fraudulent use of a bank card
On Tuesday a resident of Ernest Street reported to police officers that someone had used her bank card without her permission to make a purchase at the local Walmart store. The purchase totaled $295.01
