Thief asks for help loading his truck
Lawrenceburg Now
A man who stole a large, upright air compressor from a local market last week asked the owner of a nearby business whether he could help him load it onto his truck.
Thursday afternoon the owner of Big Chief’s Market on Weakley Creek Road reported to Lawrenceburg Police officers that he had sustained a $600 loss as a result of the crime. He said that the owner of nearby Weakley Creek Nursery had called him to tell him of the crime in progress.
By the time officers arrived on the scene, they report that both the air compressor and the person who stole it were gone.
The witness reported that the man who took the air compressor had come to his business, asking him to use his tractor to load the compressor onto the truck. He said that when he refused to help, the man left. He said that he made a quick call to the victim, then walked over to the market where he was able to obtain a license plate number.
When they ran the plate number officers discovered that it had expired in March of 2014, and that it had previously been surrendered to the State of Illinois.
The suspect’s vehicle was described as a white, 2000 or newer model Ford F150. The man was said to be a white male in his late 20s to early 30s with brownish, very close-cropped hair and several tattoos on each arm. At the time, he was dressed in greasy blue jeans and a greasy white T-shirt. Anyone who might have information about the crime should contact the police department at 931-762-2276.
