Kanew Launches "Amazing Race" Through TheDistrict
TN-7 Democratic Candidate to Visit All 19 Counties In 19 Days
Justin Kanew, Democratic candidate for Congress in Tennessee's 7th District, will barnstorm through all 19 counties in the district in a tour he’s calling his “Amazing Race through District 7.”
The title is a throwback to his two seasons on the CBS show The Amazing Race, but will feature volunteer projects and meet and greets with local constituents.
"It's about giving back," Kanew says. "I've been in the race since July, and we've already been to all 19 counties - most multiple times - but a race through the entire district feels like a great way to show how important each and every county is to us, and will continue to be once we get to Washington."
Kanew says his best friend Zev Glassenberg, the first Amazing Race competitor to be on the autism spectrum, will join the first few stops of the trip.
The "Race" starts June 11 in Williamson County, where Kanew and local volunteers will help paint a group home for men in the Natchez community in Franklin.
They will then continue through each county, volunteering at a Boys and Girls Club in Maury County, assisting with park clean-ups, at Senior centers, hosting book drives and other service projects in each county along the way. The Race finishes June 29 in Montgomery County with a free concert for all registered voters at the Downtown Commons in Clarksville. Grammy Award-winning reggae star Gramps Morgan of Morgan Heritage, a Franklin resident, will headline.
Kanew has raised over $240,000 in individual campaign contributions while refusing any PAC money, and the campaign boasts over 1000 volunteers. He has received endorsements from current and former local officials including Rep. Johnny Shaw of Bolivar, and former 5th District Congressman Bob Clement.

In conjunction with his service project for Lawrence county, Congressional candidate Justin Kanew will host a meet and greet reception Friday, June 15th from 5 til 7pm. The reception will be located at David Crockett Park in the restaurant and is open to all Lawrence county residents. Other local candidates will also be available to speak with.
This event is part of Justin’s Amazing Race Through the 7th District. Justin, a former contestant on the Amazing Race, is traveling through all 19 counties in the 7th District over 7 days to help each community with a service project. He plans stops in each county.
