Traffic Alert, Road Closure Scheduled For State Route 20 In Lawrence County
Tennessee Department of Transportation will close State Route 20 between mile marker 1.9 and mile marker 2.5 in Lawrence County for construction. The work is scheduled as follows.
Sunday, June 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the closure, all traffic will be detoured. Motorists traveling northeast on SR 20 will take Depot Street to College Street, and then turn on Monument Road toward US 43 (SR 6/Andrew Jackson Highway). Motorists wanting to travel southwest on SR 20 will be directed onto Monument Road from US 43, following the same detour route to College Street, Depot Street, and onto SR 20.
Local traffic, including homeowners and churchgoers, will be allowed access to properties within the work zone as needed. Flaggers will be utilized at both ends of the closure for this purpose.
Message boards are in place to alert motorists to the closure. Drivers are advised to plan ahead.
Please note, this closure is necessary to remove and replace a 48" corrugated metal pipe beneath the roadway. Due to the nature of the work, it is not possible to maintain a lane of travel while work is underway.
From your desktop or mobile device, get the latest construction activity and live streaming SmartWay traffic cameras at www.TNSmartWay.com/Traffic.
Travelers can also dial 511 from any land-line or cellular phone for travel information, or follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/TN511 for statewide travel.

Drivers should never tweet, text or talk on a cell phone while behind the wheel. FOR MORE INFORMATION: Heather Jensen, Community Relations Officer - Region 3, Tennessee Department of Transportation, 6601 Centennial Blvd. Nashville, TN 37243, (615) 350-4302 Desk, (615) 454-8042 Cell.
