Thursday Crime Reports
Fraud
A High Avenue resident reported to police officers that while she had been hospitalized in Nashville, someone fraudulently passed some checks against her back account. She said she received notification that her account was overdrawn. Two checks had been written to a local business, totaling $722.65. She said that she had closed the account and that no one had access to her home while she was away. She did notice, however, that her front door had been unlocked when she arrived home.
Burglary
An employee at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens told police officers Friday that a blunt object had been used to pry open a door on an equipment shed on the property. Missing were a portable water pump and a red, one gallon, plastic jug. Loss was said to be $1,022.
Theft
Officers were called to an Eighth Street home where the resident reported that someone had made off with his seven foot utility trailer on which he kept his 45” Scag zero turn mower. The trailer was taken from beneath an unenclosed carport. He said the trailer had a tongue lock and he was uncertain how the culprit was able to move it. Loss was said to be $6,800.
Vandalism
An unknown person threw a beer bottle through a large window on the southeast corner of the Centerstone building on Old Florence Road overnight Thursday. The incident occurred after 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The alarm was not activated, no entry was made, and nothing appeared to be missing. Damages were assessed at $200.
Theft
Residents of Hilltop Drive reported to police officers that their dog’s Pet Safe electronic collar had gone missing sometime between 7:25 a.m. and 8:44 p.m. Monday. Loss was approximately $129.
