Truck stolen while owner is inside store

Lawrenceburg Now

A local resident filed a complaint with sheriff's deputies on Tuesday, indicating that his truck had been stolen when he went inside of a West Lawrence market.

The victim, age 92, reported to Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies that he had parked in the parking lot of the market, located on the Turnpike, and went inside. He said while he was inside, a couple came in and the man "looked at him". Shortly afterwards the man, along with a female, was seen driving away in his Dodge truck.

Deputies issued a BOLO for Lawrence and surrounding counties and shortly afterwards were notified that a Wayne County police officer had stopped the driver. The man told the officer that he had permission to drive the truck, however deputies informed the officer that this was not true.

A warrant was issued locally against the driver, forty-five year old Michael Edsel Warren of 212 Buffalo Road, Lawrenceburg, charging him with vehicle theft. He was held at the Wayne County Jail with a hold for Lawrence County.

The victim was able to pick up his vehicle at the Wayne County Sheriff's Department the following morning.
