Suspect pulls gun on resident who witnessed assault on roadway
Lawrenceburg Now
A local man found himself staring down the barrel of a gun recently when he attempted to intercede in an assault that was occurring on the side of a local highway.
The witness, a twenty-seven year old West Lawrence resident, spoke with Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies just after witnessing the incident. He said that as he was driving along the highway he noticed a car pulled onto the side of the road near Rogers Group.
He said that as he drew near a white female with bright red hair ran in front of him, away from the vehicle. He said that he stopped to offer assistance, but that a man threw a container of food at him and ordered him to leave. When he did not do so, the witness said that the man pulled out a revolver, pointed it at him, then ordered him to “drive on.”
The witness said that he complied, but that as he pulled away he could see that the man was holding the woman by the hair while kicking her in the back. He said that he drove to nearby Brazier’s store where he asked employees to call for help.
The witness said that he quickly drove back to the spot, but that the couple had already left. HE said that they were driving a black, older model Nissan, two-wheel drive truck. He described the man as being a white male in his early 30s, around 5’9” tall, bald, with a blonde handlebar moustache. He said that the woman also appeared to be in her early 30s, was around 6’ tall, thin, and had facial bruising.
