Saturday Crime Report
Theft
A Loretto resident reported to Lawrenceburg Police officers that his GPS device, several CDs, and two bottles of prescription medication were stolen out of his 1996 Ford Thunderbird Wednesday evening while he attended church services. He said that a problem with the locking mechanism had not allowed him to lock the doors and the car had been left in a North Columbia Avenue parking lot unsecured. Loss was approximately $472.
Shoplifting
Asset Protection officers at Walmart requested that a police officer be dispatched to the store Wednesday afternoon regarding an instance of shoplifting. They reported that Mike Shawn Hendrix, 36, of 109 Rainey Street, Columbia had been observed taking items from the shelves. They said that he went through the self-checkout but failed to pay for the items. The cologne, eye drops, and women’s caps had a combined value of $27.29. Hendrix was issued a citation requiring him to answer the shoplifting charge in General Sessions Court on June 27, 2016.
Theft
An eighteen year old Second Street resident reported to officers that while riding a bicycle the previous evening he had lost his wallet. He said that when he checked with his bank he found that someone had used it at Quik Mart #6 to make a purchase for $7.39. Total loss was estimated at $29.39.
Vandalism
Officers spoke with a twenty-six year old Third Street resident who reported that she had left her home to go to a store, returning only ten minutes later to discover that someone had broken into her 2007 Pontiac G6. A door handle was broken and the interior ransacked. Loss was placed at $1,200.
Theft
Officers answered a call to Robbins Street where the resident, age 61, reported that a Walther PPK, .22 caliber handgun had been stolen from his home. Also taken were two magazines containing ten rounds of ammunition apiece. Loss was estimated to be $475.
Theft
A $1,700 dollar loss was incurred by a Prosser Road resident who reported to deputies that a black, 16x6, tandem axle trailer had been stolen from his driveway. It had a wooden floor, two tall lift gates, and a black piece of rope tied to it.
Shoplifting
Employees of Dollar General Store located at 4451 Pulaski Highway, reported to deputies that a shopper had been seen stealing some deodorant. The next day she returned and purchased a can of soup and some cigarettes. Employees report that she “did possess a tube of toothpaste and packet of cupcake cups which she did intend to steal.” They said she returned the items but left the premises when they asked to look inside her purse.
Vandalism
A North Brace Road resident reported around $500 worth of damage after a golf ball from a nearby golf course struck her Nissan truck, breaking the windshield.
Vandalism
Approximately $3,000 worth of damage was reported by a Lawrenceburg resident last week when he and his girlfriend returned home to find that her car had been keyed. Deputies report that the only parts of the paint that remained undamaged were the roof and trunk.
Vandalism
Deputies investigated a vandalism incident on Vaughn Staggs Road that resulted in around $200 worth of damage for the resident. She reported that a driver pulling a trailer had turned around in her driveway, backing into her fence in the process. She said that the driver had agreed to pay for the damages but that she wished to have the incident documented.
