Currently a manhunt is underway for a Tennessee man accused of kidnapping a woman.

 

According to Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday deputies were dispatched to Elite Market on Highway 127 North around 3:44 p.m. in regards to a call that a white man with shaggy gray hair was holding a gun on a woman in a car.

Once deputies arrived on the scene they discovered the victim had left her purse with another person at the store, and that person was able to give a description of the man with the gun also being able to identify the woman.

Cumberland County investigators responded to the victim’s residence conducting an investigation for additional information, and issuing a BOLO for the woman.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a store in Celina, Tennessee at Obed River Market where they stated a female was screaming and the man she was with had a gun. Officers responded and was able to locate the woman who is now safe.

Clay County deputies then pursued the suspect which ended up with a foot pursuit where the suspect got away.

The Man authorities are looking for is George Edwin Hardin, 57, of Sharon Circle, Crossville who is out on parole for first degree murder, armed robbery and rape.

Hardin is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall weighing 207 pounds, was wearing a teal shirt, possibly Polo style, blue jeans, tennis shoes, and was last seen in the area of Chad Grace Road and Estis Sims Road on the west end of Clay County.

Do not approach if you see suspect, Hardin is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call 911 immediately.

Several Federal, State and local agencies are involved in the current manhunt which is underway in Clay County where citizens in those areas are advised to expect a large police presence as well as helicopter patrol.
