Vandals target local church

Lawrenceburg Now

A local church sustained hundreds of dollars worth of damage recently when it was targeted by vandals.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to Brace Baptist Church where they spoke with the groundskeeper. He said that he had been alerted to the vandalism by a church member.

Reports show that vandals had spray painted vulgar sayings on the walls and door of a storage building on the property. The sayings were painted on a small table, as well.

The groundskeeper said that a door to the storage building had been inadvertently left unlocked and that the person responsible for the damage had taken the can of orange spray paint from inside the building.

Damages to the church property were estimated to total $565. The case currently remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
