One injured when weapon is discharged inside park

Lawrenceburg Now

One person sustained injury Wednesday night when a weapon was discharged inside Lawrenceburg’s Rotary Park.

Lawrenceburg Police officers were dispatched to the park at around 9:00 p.m. When they arrived, a relative reported that as he drove toward the victim’s vehicle, he had heard a gunshot. He said that his relative had sustained a wound to the jaw and that he took the handgun out of the car and laid it on a nearby bench.

The forty-nine year old victim sustained a serious injury to the jaw that appeared to be self-inflicted. He was transported by ambulance to the emergency room for immediate care. Police reports show that a CT scan revealed what appeared to be a round lodged in his jaw. The victim was subsequently airlifted to a Nashville hospital.
