Victim uses pepper spray on her attacker during domestic altercation
Lawrenceburg Now
Authorities responding to intervene in a domestic altercation early Monday found that the victim of the assault had sprayed her attacker with pepper spray.
According to reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department officers were dispatched to intervene in a domestic situation at 405 Oak Street. The complainant reported hearing screams coming from the apartment and said that she could see people fighting through a window.
When they approached the front door, officers report they could hear someone screaming inside the apartment. The thirty-five year old female resident answered the door and told officers that her ex-boyfriend “was in the kitchen screaming for help because he started punching her and she had pepper-sprayed him.”
Officers found the man, twenty-five year old Terrance Dashon Anderson of Williamsport, Tennessee, leaning over the kitchen sink, splashing water on his face. He told them that he “was blind and couldn’t breathe.”
Both the assault victim and a witness reported that Anderson had “been out drinking and doing cocaine earlier in the night.” They said that he had refused to be quiet so they could sleep. The victim told officers that she had gotten up several times to tell Anderson to quiet down. The last time, she said she told him to leave or else she would “call the cops.” She said it was at that point that he shoved her into the kitchen and began to punch her repeatedly. She said she was able to shield herself with her arms. Officers noted that her arms had sustained several scrapes and bruises.
Anderson was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was incarcerated in lieu of a $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to answer the charge in General Sessions Court on June 13, 2016.
