Tuesday Crime Report

On Sunday, officers responded to a Mahr Avenue home where the female resident, age 22, reported that someone had stolen a white gold promise ring valued at $750. She told officers that a visitor had been at the home earlier, and she made the discovery after she left.

Illegal entry

Police officers responded to investigate a break-in at a Smith Avenue home Friday. The tenant reported that he was in the process of moving out and had picked up a load earlier in the day. When he returned for the rest of his belongings, he said he found the back screen door torn open and a glass pane broken out of the door. Witnesses reported seeing two men and a woman at the home. Nothing appeared to be missing. Damages were assessed at $150.

Shoplifting

Loss prevention officers at Walmart filed a complaint with police officers Friday, indicating that an unidentified white male had entered the store that day and placed a window air conditioner unit and air conditioner cleaner into a shopping cart, then exited the business without paying for them. Loss was said to total $140.37.

Officials at Walmart reported a $121.93 loss Friday when a white male was observed placing items into a cart and leaving without paying for them. The items included a sound bar, 32 pack YooHoo, 24 pack Pepsi, and mouthwash.

On Friday Walmart associates reported that a woman had gathered health and beauty items in the store, then left without paying for them. She was stopped just outside of the exit doors and detained. Amanda Lynn Von Alleman, 35, of 1107 Beckham Avenue was issued a citation on a shoplifting charge. She is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on June 27.

Police officers responded to Walmart Sunday to speak with security personnel after they discovered a shoplifting incident while reviewing security footage due to an aborted transaction at a self-checkout station. They said that a couple had scanned all of the items in their cart, then exited without paying for them. The items had a total value of $46.35.
