Fire at Lindsey Manufacturing building under investigation
Press release
Just before 4:00 a.m. on Sunday May 14th, 2017 the Lawrenceburg Fire Department was dispatched to 203 Fourth Street for a reported structure fire. In less than three minutes, the first units arrived to find a 47,000 sq. ft. commercial building to be 80% engulfed in fire, with flames extending through the roof of the structure.
Fire Department personnel began an attack operation to extinguish the fire, and prevent fire spreading into the unburned portion of the building. Lawrenceburg firefighters utilized two fire engines, two aerial apparatus, and nearly 2,000 feet of large diameter fire hose to extinguish the blaze.
An additional fire engine, and manpower from the New Prospect Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist. A portion of North Locust Avenue was closed during the fire operation to allow firefighters to deploy supply line from a fire hydrant located at Fourth Street on the East side of North Locust Avenue.
At approximately 6:45 a.m., the fire had been brought under control, and North Locust Avenue was re-opened to traffic. Fire officials remained on the scene until approximately 9:15 a.m. conducting overhaul operations on the building to make certain the fire was extinguished.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. If you have any information about this fire, or were in the area of the old Lindsey Manufacturing building between midnight on Saturday May 13th and 4:00 a.m. on Sunday May 14th and saw anyone in the area, please contact the Lawrenceburg Fire Department Fire Investigation Division at 931-762-9046.
