Several burglaries under investigation locally
Lawrenceburg Now
Investigations are underway into a number of burglary incidents reported by local residents early in the week.
Lawrenceburg Police officers took a complaint from the owner of T&T Auto Sales on North Locust Avenue early Tuesday morning. He reported that he arrived to find the front door ajar. The door lock was in the locked position, however he said that the deadbolt was not fully locked. He said that the crime had occurred sometime after 5:20 Monday afternoon.
Officers were contacted by the same complainant after 1:00 Tuesday afternoon regarding a second crime. He said that he had realized that a paper that was lying on his desk was missing. He told officers that the document listed his name and address. He subsequently contacted family members to warn them. He said he learned that two watches and a wallet containing around $150 had been stolen out of his step-daughter’s 2006 Nissan Maxima. Total loss was estimated at $585.
The victim told officers that he had noticed his dogs barking during the night, but was uncertain of the time.
Officers investigated a burglary at Cora’s Cajun Eatery, 2457 Highway 43 North around 11:45 Monday. A business official said that he had been making repairs inside of a walk-in cooler when an unknown person “knocked out a piece of drywall next to the office door, unlocked the door, and took his Lenovo laptop from inside the office.” Officers requested that he review surveillance footage to see whether the crime might have been captured on video. Loss was said to be $350.
At around 10:30 Monday night an officer spoke with a Ninth Street resident. She reported that she had arrived home to find her rear entry door standing partially open. She said that some things inside her home appeared to have been moved around, but that nothing appeared to be damaged or missing. Officers found no sign of forced entry.
Anyone who has information regarding any of the crimes should contact the police department at 931-762-2276.
