Man is arrested for violating bond, possessing drugs, and resisting arrest
Lawrenceburg Now
Police officers who were at a Third Street home on an unrelated matter Tuesday arrested a man on drug and resisting arrest charges.
While they were speaking with the female resident in the front yard, police officers report noticing Bryan James Nicholas Milam, age 22, of 703 Springer Road walk around from the rear of the house, carrying a pink and black bag. They report that Milam then walked into the house and through the front door.
Officers were aware that Milam had been released from jail under a conditional bond the previous day on a domestic assault case that involved the female resident. His bond prohibited him from being at the house or near the victim.
Officers made contact with Milam inside the house but he began to flee before they could speak with him. The reporting officer pursued Milam and was able to tackle him in the front yard. He reportedly continued to resist arrest but was eventually handcuffed and brought under control. A search revealed that he had on his person several small zip lock bags commonly used to package drugs for resale.
Officers were allowed to search the home for the bag Milam had been carrying. They found that he had stashed it behind a chair in a bedroom. The bag held two medium-size bags, both containing marijuana. Total weight was approximately 56.1 grams. It also held items of drug paraphernalia.
During an interview with officers, they report that Milam claimed ownership of the items. He was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center where he was held without bond on charges that include: violation of a conditional bond, possession of marijuana for the purpose of resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest. He was scheduled an initial appearance in General Sessions Court on June 3, 2016.
