Arrest made when meth lab components are found near Carroll Avenue home
Lawrenceburg Now
A Carroll Avenue resident was arrested recently when components of a meth lab were found near her home.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that in April investigators initially began to investigate suspicious pseudoephedrine purchases made by Deona Brucesana Hughes, 43, and John Curtis Kingsbury, 61, both residents of 217 Carroll Avenue.
After making contact with them several times, investigators received information regarding a possible meth lab in the vicinity of the couple’s home. While checking the ditches, they report finding a plastic bag that contained a meth shake bottle, empty jug of muriatic acid, aluminum foil, needles, tubing, and a hydrogen gas generator constructed out of a sixteen ounce Coca Cola bottle.
Investigators spoke with Hughes at her home and report noticing a sixteen ounce Coca Cola bottle with a hole cut out of the top of the cap “just like the hydrogen gas generator.” She refused to allow a search of the property and told investigators that she would “just throw away” any potential meth-related items she found.
Investigators report that during a conversation, Kingsbury said to Hughes, “You’re the one that wanted me to get the box (of pseudoephedrine) the other day.”
Investigators report that shortly afterward Hughes stated that, “She usually gets half of the meth from a box and she uses meth for medical reasons.”
As a result of the lengthy investigation, Hughes was arrested on two counts of initiation of the manufacture of meth and one count of promotion of the manufacture of meth. Kingsbury was cited on a charge of promotion of the manufacture of meth. Both are scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on June 2, 2016.
The meth lab components were properly processed at a safe location, and investigators requested that a meth clean-up truck be dispatched.
