Acquaintance snatches cash from purse, then flees

Lawrenceburg Now

A Lawrenceburg woman requested that police officers be dispatched to investigate when money was stolen out of her purse while she was speaking with an acquaintance Monday afternoon.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department spoke with the forty-two year old victim who reported that the crime had occurred while she was at North End Market on Mahr Avenue. She said that a male acquaintance “came up to her and began talking.”

The victim said that during their conversation the man reached into her purse, took $40, then fled on foot.

The crime remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
