Thieves steal thousands of dollars worth of equipment from solid waste facility
Lawrenceburg Now
Authorities indicate that the local solid waste facility experienced a considerable loss overnight Tuesday at the hands of thieves.
Lawrenceburg police officers report finding no sign of forced entry at the facility, located at 2126 Baler Drive. Employees reported that someone entered the facility and stole a 2000 model Chevrolet 2500 truck and the attached sixteen foot utility trailer loaded with a gray port-a-potty, angle grinder, and a number of tools.
Before leaving, employees report that those responsible loaded a nearby Kubota 60” zero turn mower onto the trailer. Other items were also stolen, including a hedge trimmer, pole saw, four string trimmers, backpack sprayer, two leaf blowers and chainsaw, all Stihl brand. Damage was noted to one door knob at the facility.
Employees reported that the crime had occurred after 4:00 the previous afternoon. They said that keys for the truck and mower were still in the proper location. Altogether, loss totaled around $24,000.
