Thursday Crime Report
Theft
Owners of Big Johns’ BBQ reported to police officers that cash was missing from the register. The manager told officers that a few days prior an employee had mentioned needing $50 to cover an insurance co-pay that resulted from an injury she had sustained at work the previous week. While counting the money the evening before, the manager said they found that $50 was missing from the register. Although that particular employee was working, the manager said she was not the only one who had access to the register. The case remains under investigation.
Theft
Police officers responded to a North Military Avenue home where the resident reported that some $1,200 worth of his wife’s clothing and makeup had been stolen. He told officers that his daughter had stayed the night and he had awakened around 3:00 a.m. to find her rummaging through a spare bedroom. He said he was not bothered by the incident and had gone back to bed. He got up around 6:00 a.m. to go to work and his daughter had left. It wasn’t until later in the day that he found that the items were missing.
Theft
A Fifth Street resident filed a complaint with police officers Friday, indicating that her ex-boyfriend had apparently stolen her debit card and removed $409 from her bank account. She told officers she had given him a ride to a store to buy cigarettes a few days prior. She said that she had gotten out of the vehicle to use the restroom at his home and believes that her card was stolen during that time. When she noticed the card missing the next day she asked him about it, but he denied any knowledge of it. She said he later contacted her, saying that he had found the card beneath a bench on his porch. She later checked her balance and discovered that the money had been taken. She said that she does wish to prosecute.
Public Intoxication
Officers made their way to Spout Springs Park Saturday on a report of a man passed out on the grass. They report that the man “was passed out from ingesting too much alcohol.” The man, identified as Geoffery Lee Goshert, 38, of 108 A Fourth Street, Lawrenceburg reportedly told officers that he had been drinking and “just wanted to go to sleep.” Because he was deemed a danger to himself and the public he was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center for booking.
