Resident reports rape incident

Local law enforcement officials initiated an investigation when a local woman reported that she had been assaulted and raped inside of the room she was renting.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to Parkview Motel on West Gaines Street Monday morning. The thirty-one year old victim reported that the crime had occurred inside of her room.

The victim reported that she had been out for a time. When she returned to her room she found that it was in a state of disarray with a table overturned and her belongings strewn about. She told officers that her dog “immediately went to the bathroom door and began growling. She said when she walked toward the bathroom to investigate, three people emerged. She described the trio as being one white male, one white woman, and one black male.

The victim reported that the two men attacked her. One of them pulled her shirt up and backward, effectively strangling her. She said the men pulled her onto the bed, removed her clothing, and one of them raped her.

The victim told police officers that she had been able to fight the men off, then grabbed a kitchen knife with which to defend herself. Once she grabbed the knife, she said all three fled from the room.

The victim reported that the female suspect was not involved in the assault, but “was watching and laughing” as it occurred.

Reports show that the trio had stolen items from the victim’s room, including her prescription medication and $200 in cash.
