Repeat shoplifter ID’d after asking employee to hold items
Lawrenceburg Now
A woman who was reportedly caught in the act of shoplifting at a Lawrenceburg business last week was identified due to the fact that she had given her name to another employee when requesting that items be held for her to pick up at a later date.
Employees of So Cute Boutique, 16 Public Square, filed a complaint of shoplifting with Lawrenceburg Police officers. They reported that the same woman had stolen items from the store on more than one occasion and the acts were captured on surveillance video.
Employees reported that the woman had come into the store that day, placed two bracelet plates in her shorts, then continued to shop before making off with the merchandise. They said that another employee had witnessed the woman taking items a day or two prior. The employee had confronted the woman, asking to look inside her purse. After finding several items of merchandise, she told the woman to leave and not return.
Another employee said that the woman had asked her to hold some clothing items for her, saying that she would pick them up the day after the complaint was filed. They gave officers the name the woman had left and the investigation led them to identify the woman as a Hoover Street resident.
Store officials said that they do wish to prosecute the woman for the crimes. Investigation in the matter is continuing at the current time.
