Loretto Band Director receives an award of distinction from the ASBDA

Press release

On a night where the students receive most of the awards, Loretto Band Director Darrel Boston was also honored Saturday evening at the Loretto Band Banquet in a surprise visit from Mark Garey, State Chair of the American School Band Directors Association.

Mr. Garey presented Mr. Boston with an Award of Distinction as he revealed that the Loretto Band was 1 of 5 high schools in the mid-state region out of 140 to receive the highest award for superior concert performance.

The ASBDA focuses on concert performance at the high school level, and Mr. Garey went on to acknowledge the Loretto Band students for their hard work and effort in reaching this goal.

Lastly, a personal invitation was extended to Mr. Boston to join this prestigious association. “I am very honored to receive this award from the American School Band Directors Association.  This would not be possible however if not for the hard work of the students.  I am so thankful to them for their work and dedication as we continue to strive for excellence. I would also like to thank the parents and community for their continued support of our band program for without their support, none of this is possible.   I am so blessed to share my love of music with the wonderful students of Loretto High School, Leoma Elementary, and South Lawrence Elementary” says Director, Darrell Boston.
