Woman charged with doing drugs in parking lot
Lawrenceburg Now
A pair of Columbia residents was taken into custody after they were found to be using drugs in the parking lot of a Lawrenceburg business.
Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department show that officers answered a call to the parking lot of Walmart on North Locust Avenue at around 8:40 that morning. They had been asked to check on the welfare of two women who had been sitting inside of an SUV for a long period of time.
When they approached, officers report noticing several uncapped syringes lying on the ground beside and in front of the vehicle. They spoke with the vehicle occupants, fifty-one year old Patricia Carlyne Scribner and thirty-two year old Cheynne Michelle Nay, both of 1116 Theta Pike, Columbia, and inquired about the syringes.
The women denied any knowledge of the syringes initially. Officers report, however, that "when confronted about needle puncture marks on her arm Nay admitted to them being hers and apologized." She told officers that she and Scribner "had been in the parking lot shooting up roxycodone since during the night."
Reports show that Scribner denied any knowledge of the syringes. She did, however, admit that she had been using the drug.
Officers report that, while Nay exhibited signs of narcotic impairment, Scribner did not. They were both issued citations charging them with possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal littering. Both are scheduled to answer the charges in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 1, 2017.
