Woman witnesses fraudulent transaction while checking account

A local woman filed a complaint with law enforcement officers last week when she witnessed a fraudulent transaction after logging into her bank card account.

The forty-year-old Cemetery Road resident reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies Friday that someone had hacked her account. She said that she had used her Visa card a couple of times that day.

While at a Lawrenceburg store, she said she was checking her account before making a purchase and “observed a transaction occurring instantly at a Shell Station in Cordova, Tennessee.” She told deputies that she had recently made a purchase at a business in Cordova.

The victim contacted the card company and discovered that her PIN number had been changed without her knowledge or consent. She closed the account and told officers she was working toward having the money refunded.
