LHS Band performs at Tennessee Music Educators Association's State Concert Festival

Congratulations to the members of the Loretto High School Band!  On Thursday, April 28, 2016, they gave an outstanding musical performance at the 2016 Tennessee Music Educators Association’s State Concert Festival on the campus of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. 

The band performed for some of the top music educators in the world such as Bruce Moss, Director of Bands, Bowling Green State University, Stephen Pratt, Director of Bands, Indiana University, Robert Sheldon, Composer and Clinician, Alfred Music and Matthew Temple, Director of Bands, New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. 

The band also enjoyed a clinic session with Matthew Temple, who has a highly successful high school band program at New Trier High School. His bands have performed at the Midwest Clinic, Western Illinois University Showcase and University of Illinois Superstate Festivals and in 2014 his band received national recognition as an inaugural recipient of the “Blue Ribbon Award” for Programs of Excellence from the National Band Association. 

Mr. Temple said that he was quite honored to be our clinician as he had heard great things from other directors from across the state and was very impressed with our performance.   In the past 6 years the Loretto High School Band has performed four times at the TMEA State Concert Festival.  “The band members worked hard preparing for this event and did their very best. They represented our school and community with the utmost professionalism. I am very proud of them and so blessed to be their band director.” stated Darrell Boston, director.
