Vehicle occupants garner charges during traffic stop
Lawrenceburg Now
All three vehicle occupants garnered charges in the wake of a routine traffic stop in Lawrenceburg.
Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that the traffic stop was made at the Waterloo Street/Buffalo Road intersection when the officer noticed that a backseat passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver, Steven Daryl Box, 28, of 507 Cecil Street, told the officer that his driver’s license had previously been suspended. The backseat passenger, Heaven Marie Bauer, age 22, also of 507 Cecil Street, indicated that she, also, had no license.
The officer reports that he asked whether there were any drugs or weapons inside the vehicle and that passenger Steven Leon Dickson, Jr., 44, of 1803 Jean Street, “said ‘no’ but shook his head ‘yes’.”
Box granted consent for a search of the vehicle and they consented to searches of their persons. The officer indicates that as he was patting down Box he found a glass pipe with drug residue in his front pocket.
While patting down Dickson, the officer reports that he felt “something unnatural” in his lower groin area. He said that Dickson “denied that it was anything” but did agree to go to the police station. As they were pulling into the parking lot, he reports that he admitted that “he had some dope in his pants.” He then handed over a plastic bag that contained approximately fourteen grams of methamphetamine.
As a result of the incident all three were issued citations. Box was charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bauer was cited on a seatbelt violation. Both are scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on July 7, 2016.
Dickson was issued a citation, charging him with the crime of possession of meth for the purpose of resale. His initial court date has been scheduled for June 2, 2016.
