Annual Swing Into Spring Concert set for May 5th

The 29th Annual Swing into Spring Concert sponsored by First Volunteer Bank will be Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Old Crockett Theatre starting at 7:00 pm.  This concert will feature the bands and choirs of the three high schools in Lawrence County and the grand finale is the mass band performance of all three high school bands performing with guest conductor Dr. Gary Schallert.

 Dr. Gary Schallert is Director of Bands and Professor of Music at Western Kentucky University where he administrates the band program, conducts the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, and teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in conducting and music education. Additionally, he supervises instrumental student teachers.

Dr. Schallert is a member of the Kentucky Music Educators Association.  Other professional affiliations include the American Bandmasters Association, the College Band Director's National Association, and the National Association for Music Education, the National Band Association.  He is a member of Phi Beta Mu, Phi Mu Alpha, and is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma.

We are honored to have Dr. Gary Schallert as our guest conductor.  Mr. J P Plant with X Sports Radio will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the evening.  Tickets are $10 and maybe purchased at the door or from any of the three high school music departments.
