Safe, medications, checks among items reported stolen in recent burglary events
Lawrenceburg Now
A safe, medications, and personal checks were among the items reported stolen from two homes in the Lawrenceburg area that were burglarized recently.
On Saturday, a resident of First Street requested that officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department be dispatched to investigate a home burglary. She told them that she had left home around 11:00 a.m., returning at around 7:00 p.m. to find that some of her belongings were missing. Items taken included: several pieces of jewelry, a box of personal checks, and approximately $60 worth of collectible coins.
Officers checked the home and report that it appeared that the person responsible had gained entry through a bedroom window on the southeast corner. Officers found that a hose reel had been pushed beneath the window. Screws had been partially removed from the outside of the window and a screen removed entirely. Loss was estimated to total $600.
In a separate case, officers were sent to 432 Fourth Street to investigate a burglary on Thursday. The resident reported that she had returned to her home to find the rear door standing open. A bedroom door had also been left open. The victim said that she might have inadvertently left one of the doors unlocked.
The resident determined that a portable safe containing $300 in cash and three different prescription medications was missing. She estimated her loss to be $403.
Both burglaries currently remain under investigation through the police department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information about the crimes is encouraged to contact the department at 931-762-2276.
