Loretto Band Director receives honors at TMEA Coference
Loretto High School Band Director Darrell Boston receives multiple honors at this year’s Tennessee Music Education Association Professional Development Conference at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel on April 6 & 7, 2017.
During the opening ceremonies on Thursday, April 6, Mr. Boston was recognized and awarded for 25 years plus of service for Outstanding Contribution to the Advancement of Music Education in the state of Tennessee.
Friday morning April 7, Mr. Boston was again honored by officially becoming a member of the American School Band Directors Association. This honor is endorsed by the state, serves by invitation only, and recognizes great achievement in music.
Friday afternoon Mr. Boston was inducted into Phi Beta Mu ( The International Bandmasters Fraternity ). This fraternity honors outstanding band directors for their dedication and devotion to their profession.
This is also an invitation only group in which you must be nominated and sponsored by current members. "I was thrilled to tears to have my dear friend Ms. JoAnn Hood nominate me and give me my pin. This is such an honor, I am so blessed. I have to say none of this would be possible if not for the wonderful students I have had over the years. I have been so blessed to have great students. They deserve all the credit. If not for them, this is not possible for me."
Pictured are Dr. Jeff Phillips, past President of TEMA, presenting Mr. Boston the 25year plus Award for Music Education in the state of Tennessee. Also pictured, is Ms. Jo Ann Hood placing the official Phi Beta Mu pin on Mr. Boston’s lapel.
